Welcome to the Writing CenterOur mission is to assist all students in all subjects to become more effective writers during any stage of the writing process by offering one-on-one tutoring and group workshops. We can help students understand assignments, organize, and revise papers.

Online Tutoring GuideDo you need to meet with a tutor, but you cannot go to campus to meet with one? Are you an online student who needs help with writing or grammar? Are you having trouble scheduling an appointment to meet with a tutor face to face? Try our online tutoring system Click on the image above to see how.
Make an Appointment to meet with a tutorStudents may make an appointment to meet with a tutor online by clicking on the image above or by click on the link labeled "Meet a Tutor." Students may also make an appointment by coming to the Writing Center personally. The Writing Center no longer makes appointments by phone. 
Writing Center WorkshopsThe Writing Center also offers workshops for students who need help with specific writing or grammar topics. Different workshops are offered every week, so students who miss a workshop one week may join the workshop again next week. In order to accommodate student schedules, workshop topics will be offered at different times each week. To view the workshop schedule for this week, please click on the image above. 
Online Writing Lab (OWL)The Writing Center now offers an online component to its services. Students may receive online tutoring, receive live chat instant help, use online grammar software, and more. Click on the image to access our OWL. 
Meet a Tutor
Make an AppointmentThe Writing Center provides free tutoring for all student at ELAC. During the thirty-minute session, tutors first concentrate on thesis development, paragraph structure, overall essay cohesiveness, and close reading of the text if applicable. Tutors may also point out language error patterns if time allows.
Join a Workshop
Group SessionsThe Writing Center offers on-going workshops, which are small-group discussions that focus on a particular topic such as thesis development, essay outlining, close reading of texts, and MLA formatting. Other workshops focus on grammar issues like run-on sentences and fragments.
Online Tutoring
Begin your online sessionHave an online tutoring session right now? Click on the link "Online Tutoring" to begin your session now! Make sure that have your microphone connected to your computer and Adobe Flash installed onto your computer. Remember, you may, also, begin your session from your email confirmation.
Dir. Learning
Begin your activityDirected Learning Activities are now being offered. These are guided lessons students may go over at their own pace. After the lessons, students will be able to meet with a tutor in person or online for 15mins to see how much was learned. If students pass, they will get verified for their activity.

ELAC's Online Writing Lab (OWL)
Online Services for Students
The Writing Center's Online Writing Lab (OWL) extends it's services to students taking online course and/or to students who do not have the time to come to the Writing Center. OWL provides students with many of the same services as the physical lab, including one-on-one tutoring and grammar programs. Integrating ELAC's moodle, students must create and use a Moodle account to use these services.
